Companies neglect leads to death of worker

A construction company has been fined over the death of a 53-year-old worker who fell three meters down an exhaust shaft at a block of flats whilst he was working.

The companies’ director has been convicted and fined £4,000 after pleading guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act because appropriate barrier had not been put in place at the edge of the shaft.

A total of £5,000 was fined to the company, who had been using barriers that you would normally find being used for roadwork’s, which would have not hold any weight if leaned against.

The worker who fell later died due to the injuries sustained as a result of the companies neglect.
