Compensation for crushed thumb

A contractor of a building site has been awarded £10,000 after tripping over debris, which was left on the floor by workers, and crushing his thumb.

The man was carrying a large electrical tool on his shoulder when he fell and as he put his hand out to save himself the tool fell from his shoulder crushing his right thumb, causing him to undergo surgery.

The surgery has left him with some cold intolerance and residual stiffness.
