A man has received £10,000 after developing Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome after 20 years of working with vibratory equipment.
The gentleman’s condition is a consequence from working over 20 years in the construction industry using tools such as Vibrating pokers, scablers and kango hammers. Within his role as a construction supervisor he was using this type of equipment for over 4 – 5 hours a day.
The company which the man work for failed to monitor the usage of the equipment and limit the use in conjunction with the health and safety guidelines, especially the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992/1998.
The payout of £10,000 was settled as the compensation claim.
