Vehicle owners need to be more aware of the changing weather conditions in October as the autumnal weather kicks in, following an increase in accident claims according to an accident management company's statistics.
A UK accident management company has reported that drivers are forgetting to adjust from their summer driving mode to adapt for the road conditions that come with the autumnal weather, including the wet rain and leaf fall. In October alone there is a 15 percent rise in the number of accident claims made and according to the Department for Transport there is an unfortunate rise of 14 percent deaths due to road accidents.
If a car is travelling at 40 mph in wet conditions, it takes double the stopping distance to come to a standstill, a total of 72 meters something that vehicle owners are forgetting when they hit wet slippery roads from a mixture of oil, rain and leaves. 15 percent more accident claims are made in October than April to September, however compared to August there is a usually a 21 percent rise.
