Many are thankful for the safety blanket of their house insurance when they suffer a robbery in their property, although this does little to compensate the violating feelings caused by such an act.
However a family in Strabane, County Tyrone were forced to flee their house when masked men descended on their home of seven just after midnight on Monday 17 August.
The masked men were carrying offensive weapons including hurling sticks and probably a handgun which were used the threaten the family where the youngest child is only six-years-old. Bats were also used to carry out serious damage to the property as the violent intruders smashed up windows and belongings.
The circumstances surrounding the invasion of the property and the reasons for the threats are still unclear, however police spokesman condemned the behaviour as unacceptable in civil society and the fear and trauma sustained by the younger children may have resonating impacts through out their lives.
It is easy to conclude that anyone would be suffering from shock after being forced to flee his or her home at the dead of night.
Lower premiums provides house insurance and personal insurance for families across the British islands and can be a vital safety net in times of theft and burglary.
