The government has announced its intentions to crack down on rogue clampers and plans to drive them out of business if they do not act responsibly. Parking companies are able to obtain drivers names and addresses to pursue them for fines.
These companies will no longer be allowed to use the loopholes in the DVLA rules to obtain confidential information. Clampers will now be required to get a license from SIA in order to clamp vehicles after they received thousands of complaints of unfair treatment.
Drivers were being forced to pay extortionate penalties to retrieve their vehicles after parking briefly on private land including supermarket car parks. New stricter measures will see drivers been able to appeal fines and government agencies will enforce the fair treatment of the public. They will continue to do spot checks on all companies that carry the license to help promote greater public confidence in the system.
