Many unsuspecting LGV drivers have recently been victimised by unscrupulous thieves who have stolen fuel from right under the noses of lorry drivers in Neath Port Talport, Wales.
Police have warned LGV drivers that fuel theft has been on the increase and several LGV drivers have had fuel stolen from their tanks whilst they have been stopped in lay-bys.
The local authorities have recently reported that several audacious thieves stole 150 litres of fuel from a vehicle parked in the A456 whilst the driver was just catching up on some sleep.
The Freight Transport Agency has erected signs in many lay-bys warning LGV drivers of the danger of violent thieves especially on rural roads where lay-bys stops are infrequent. The amount of hijacked vehicles has also increased and police have attributed this recent trend to the popularity of fuel theft.
