Landlords reaping the benefits of the collapsed housing market

A new survey conducted by Savills showed that landlords that have their home located within a short radius of a school have a higher chance of letting. The survey shows that when potential residents look for a property one of the main factors they look for is distance to a school. This fact is supported by the figure that let properties located near to one of the UK's top performing schools have a 16% higher rent, this has risen by 3% since 2007.

Ongoing factors in the housing market can be to thank for the increased number of people looking to rent. The number of people expected to be evicted by the end of the year has reached a figure of 48,000 some have already been removed from their homes forcing them to look elsewhere for somewhere to live. This is good news for landlords but will have a devastating effect on the housing market in the long run.
