Lifeguard enters early retirement

A lifeguard has recently been awarded compensation of over £5, 0000 after being forced to retire early after sustaining an injury caused by lifting a set of faulty pool steps.

Adding insult to injury his employers Heywood Sports Centre had been noted that the steps were faulty by David Barber but had repeatedly insisted that the steps were not a priority for mending. After lifting the broken steps Barber hurt his back and was forced to take 4 weeks off work, he was then asked to carry out more life-guarding training upon his return.

Heywood Sports Centre have had to consult their business insurance to arm themselves for the £50, 000 compensation claim made by their former lifeguard.

Barber aged 62 has been forced to enter early retirement due to the carelessness of his employers. The Health and Safety Executive acknowledge that thousands of working days are lost by employers due to the amount of back injuries sustained by employees and subsequently revenue is greatly affected.

Lower premiums provide business insurance combining employers liability insurance with public liability insurance to offer the highest levels of standard cover for employers across the country.
