Lift firm charged with womans death

One of the UK's lift firms, ThyssenKrupp Elevator UK Ltd are due to appear in court after being charged with the death of a woman. The 32-year-old woman was killed after the elevator fell trapping her in the shaft, in 2003.

The lift company are due to appear in Southwark Crown Court where they will be charged will four counts of breaking health and safety laws. The health club where the incident happened pleaded guilty to three charges of breaking Health and Safety at Work offences.

Since the accident Holmes Place Health Club was taken over by Virgin Active in 2006. They are now working with the Health and Safety Executive and Police to aid the case in any way they can.
