London become seventh eco city

London has been named as one of the UK's Low Carbon Economic Area for energy efficient buildings. London is the seventh city to receive this title and will now turn their focus to the environmental retrofitting of properties, which they hope will lead an example for other cities to follow.

Property owners around the UK are now being urged to start creating a more environmentally friendly home, which will help create a more sustainable and greener climate. Another advantage of these refurbishments is that at this time a greener property can fetch a higher asking price on the market.

The director of the national Home Improvement Council, Andrew Leech is leading the fight in the effort to push homeowners towards the goal of a more economical UK. He said: "There are certain things a householder should be aiming to do and one of these is to fully insulate the house. If you have cavity walls, these need to be insulated."
