A postman who was trying to lift an overfilled postbag was injured due to his employers neglect.
There was a shortage of postbags at the workers place of work so each bag had to be overfilled. When the man lifted one of the bags he injured both his thumb and finger, leaving him unable to return to his normal work duties for several weeks.
The person had previously complained about the weight of the bags which was brought up in court. The judge commented that his place of work had breached regulations, including not providing sufficient training on how to lift the bags correctly and they had also imposed time restraints on their employees.
Compensation was awarded to the postman for the injuries he sustained.
