One of the most dangerous and frequent trade insurance perils suffered by businesses is fire. Another blaze has been reported this week in Kirkby as two warehouse become engulfed in flames on the Knowsley Industrial Estate,
The fire service received emergency 999-telephone call reporting that a few pallets in one warehouse had caught alight, only to discover that the entire pallet warehouse was consumed in flames and that the fire had spread to the neighbouring carpet warehouse.
The original fire crew was joined by a total of 12 other engines sent from the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, which had to battle throughout the night to retain the fire. A spokesman for the fire service said that it took them a concerted effort to bring the fire under control and warehouse fires in particular can be tricky incidences to quell and pose a considerable threat to fire fighters.
The two businesses that owned the warehouses will now be reporting the fire to their insurance providers to try and recuperate some of the losses they made by the loss of stock.
Lower Premium provides business insurance for employers and warehouse owners across the UK helping them to insure against the common and dangerous insurance risks of fire, flood and storm.
