The specialist GPS software developer, Navevo, has launched a sat nav designed for vans and heavy goods vehicles.
The software installed in ProNav allows the driver to enter the specifications of their vehicle, and the cargo that they are carrying, so that the software can then calculate a route that is suitable for their vehicle and cargo.
It has been designed to avoid such incidents as travelling down unsuitable roads or crossing bridges with weight restrictions that their vehicles would break.
It also highlights other hazards on the route like steep hills, cross winds and grounding risks. These are then shown as icons on the screen; well in advance, so that drivers can decide to change their routing.
Other points of interest features of the ProNav are a database including HGV petrol stations, standard loading bays and cafes that offer breakfast for under a fiver.
