A self-employed painter and decorator, who was being contracted to work for a painting and decorating contracting firm, has received £29,000 compensation after his hand whilst operating a cherry picker.
The contracting company, who had provided the worker with the cherry picker had not given him any prior training and had instigated the work under their supervision. They accepted liability for the accident and awarded him with compensation that included his loss of earnings from the rest of his contract for the company.
