Lower Premium, driving down the price of insurance

Top 20 most burgled postcodes - time to update the contents insurance?

Some homeowners will breathe a sigh of relief as a list of the country's most thieving hotspots hits the headlines, others on the other hand will reaching for the telephone to call insurance providers to double check their contents insurance.

Moneysupermarket.co.uk has pioneered the new survey basing the results on areas where residents have put in the most claims for burglary and theft in the last 12 months. Poor Doncaster and Bristol topped the twenty strong list with over 6 percent of residents claiming against their contents insurance.

Surprisingly Nottingham, known as England' s most crime ridden city, ranks fourth place behind Canvey Island off the Essex coast. Six positions were held by different areas of London, which spanned the rankings with Brentford appearing the worst behind the UK's second capital Birmingham.

Other areas that also have a slight 'ruff 'n' ready' reputation also make their debut on the list with Leeds appearing at number 17. However other more archetypal quieter areas also show their faces with Gloucester, Edinburgh and Reading inching their way along the rankings.

The bad news delivered by the Top 20 postcodes most likely to claim for theft means that not only do these residents have a more likely chance to suffer the violation of burglary but that home contents insurance premiums are likely to be higher.

Lower premiums offers buildings insurance and contents insurance for property owners guaranteeing the named lower premiums via savvy online discounts and optional extra cover.
