Toyota has announced that it has developed the worlds first rear window curtain shield airbag to protect backseat passengers if a crash happens from behind.
The new idea airbags will deploy from the roof lining above the rear window. When released it acts like a curtain around the headrests.
Together the headrests and the new airbags will form a curtain from behind the backseat passengers to lower impact, reducing the injury that may be caused.
The system is going to be launched in the new compact four-seater ‘iQ’, which is out later this year.
